This month we interviewed Pat Moat from the Upwell Short Matt Bowls group. 

Here is what she had to say,

Q:Name of Group 

A: Upwell Short Matt Bowls Group

Q: How long has the group been established ?

A: Pat believes the club started around 2009 and has used the village hall since its inception.

Q: When does the group meet ?

A:The club meets Mondays and Wednesdays. Sessions start at 1.45pm on those days and last about two hours, with a coffee break! 

Q:What you can expect to achieve as a member, whilst using the group ?

A: There are between six to 15 players at each session. You can come as a complete novice, or an experienced player, and teams are picked on the day randomly. You don’t need the bowls to play – the club can supply them – but you do need indoor shoes to play.

Q: What do you think of the Hall as a venue ?

“The hall is a great place to play – there’s plenty of space and ventilation – but it’s also warm too,” says Pat. 

Q: How does everyone get on ?

“There’s a great social side to this and we always go out for a Christmas meal.”

Q: Are you open to new players at the club ?

A:There are new players joining all the time, with two started just this month!
